Reading, Spelling, and Writing (ELA) Tutoring

I use the Orton-Gillingham (OG) or Evidence Based Literacy Instruction (EBLI) approach to build foundational reading, spelling, and writing skills. Both are highly effective approaches for students struggling with reading and spelling, including students with suspected or diagnosed Dyslexia. Both approaches improve areas such as phonemic awareness, phonics, reading fluency, reading comprehension, spelling, handwriting, and sentence/paragraph writing.​​

For more structured writing support, I use Releasing Writers or Strengthening Student Writing through Focus. Releasing Writers, formerly known as thinkSRSD, is a writing approach based on the Science of Writing. Using a set of evidence-based writing and self-regulating strategies, students develop informational, opinion, and narrative writing. Strengthening Student Writing through Focus works on developing sentence structure and paragraph writing.

The program chosen will be based on your child's individual and specific tutoring needs. This will be discussed in our initial phone call.
